In June 1987, Gerry was again visiting England with The Chicago Staff Band. During that tour, Kathie toured several countries in Europe on her own. On an afternoon visiting The Salvation Army Blackburn Citadel in Lancashire, England, Gerry jotted down this first sequel to "Kathie's Tune", written 15 years earlier. It commemorates their first 12 years of marriage, hence the title "Opus 12". There are a few subtle references to the original Kathie's tune, and there are also some not-too-subtle references.
